Phil Ivey Within Striking Distance of 2009 WSOP Final
Phil Ivey is widely considered one of the top poker players on the circuit today and he’s proving why at the 2009 World Series of Poker where he continues to hover around the top chip leaders. By late Saturday, Ivey had the 11th best chip count.
“All done for the day,1.27 million,” the happy poker player proclaimed as this installment of the 2009 WSOP came to a close Saturday night.
There were still a few more days to go and anything can happen at any given time, which proved to be the case with Bertrand Grospellier, who has dominated the WSOP these past two days but fell to the 10th position heading into Sunday morning.
Relative unknown, Ludovic Lacay, had the largest chip count but with Tom Lutz breathing down his throat. Lutz had entered the top 10 chip count during the later hours on Saturday. Harry Karazian entered the top 10 as well. Out were James Akenhead and Theo Tran.
450 players remained going into Sunday.
