Online Gaming Deal Brings Live Hold’em Betting To The Internet

Much of the complaints surrounding the coverage of the World Series of Poker revolve around the delay between when the tournament is played and when it is actually aired on ESPN. Viewers often know the outcome of the tournament before watching the telecast.

Caribbean Gaming and Casino Corp. and Tradewinds Broadcasting Corp. are preparing to put an end to that type of coverage. The two companies have entered into a deal that will bring live poker tournaments to the Internet.

Viewers will have the capability to watch the tournament unfold live, with no tape delay. In addition to that great feature, live betting will be available on players that are in the actual tournament.

“Integration of live play and online wagering on the players themselves brings a whole new dimension to the rapidly growing number of Texas Hold’em fans,” said Allen Engebretsen, a Director of Tradewinds Media, “We are seeing the same kind of excitement as when I was setting up local pub tournaments to feed championship players into the big tournaments such as the World Series of Poker. The potential for this technology is absolutely amazing.”

Caribbean Gaming and Casino Corp. is just as excited about the new project. Even though the Main event final table at the WSOP can be seen live on pay-per-view, it does not offer the same type of hype that this new deal will bring.

“The difference is like watching a live sporting event instead of a time delayed game with a determined outcome,” said Steven Swank, President of Caribbean Gaming and Casino Corp., “It is an interactive experience never offered before now. We hope to have this up and running by late 2009.”
