Italian Wins €147 Million Lotto Jackpot

What a weekend it must have been in the Tuscan place called Bagnone. This Saturday it was announced that in this little Italian village with just over 2000 inhabitants, the winning lottery ticket of the Italian “Suprenalotto” had been sold.

The Winning Ticket
It’s unbelievable, the lucky guy who bought the ticket at the local tobacco shop for only €2, now is the winner of the astronomically big jackpot containing €147 million. Further details on the winner will probably be kept secret with regard to the winner’s safety and privacy.

The mayor of the little town was very pleased with the big win and said half jokingly: “Our municipal budget is only €2,3 million a year. I hope the winner keeps this in mind and doesn’t forget about us.”

Biggest European Jackpot Ever
Ever since January of this year nobody had succeeded in scooping this major progressive jackpot, ultimately leading to what happened to be the biggest European jackpot ever. Only in the US a bigger jackpot has ever been won by one single person, being the €157,7 million Mega Millions jackpot.

Big Prizes, Slim Chances
Objectively seen, the participants in the Suprenalotto are far from getting value for their money – the Italian Government is the big overall winner with €1 billion flowing to treasury. The paying out of a prize this big is a rare and very special event, and it’s not sure whether online prizes will ever be this high.

But if you, for a change, look at the relative winning chances you’ll find it’s way better to play online: the Grand Slam of Slots has a first place prize of €1 million and has only about 15,000 participants. Now it’s even possible to join the battle without paying the buy-in, check out this page to see how you can obtain free tickets to the Grand Slam of Slots Finale.
