Bermuda Considering Entering Online Gambling Market

Bermuda could be interested in getting their hands on some of the money that is being generated from the online gambling industry. The Island’s government is looking into perhaps entering the market.

Bermuda has seen the financial advantages that Antigua and Barbuda and Costa Rica have enjoyed, and they might be ready to throw their hat into the online ring as well. There is no denying the amount of revenue that could be generated for the Island.

Bermuda believes that they could become a central part of Internet gambling should they enter the market. “I was publicly in support of legalizing gambling. Firstly, because it had already existed through bingo, horse racing, football pools, and Crown and Anchor,” said former Tourism Minister Renee Webb.

It may not only be online casinos that are coming to Bermuda. Last week, Premier Ewart Brown hinted that casinos may also be in the future of the Island, though he did not go into any of the details other than that the government is exploring their options.

“We’ve actually announced last week that we’re going to have a feasibility study on gaming. That’s going to start next week,” said Brown. He was pushed on what that study would lead to and he responded,” Well I don’t know. I don’t know that it’s going to be big casinos opening up. We are studying everything from Internet gambling to lotteries.”
