Argentina States Moving Closer To Blocking Online Gambling
Residents of Argentina may soon find it difficult to gamble online. A new Bill was proposed last week and if its approved it would make it virtually impossible to gamble online in the country.
Councillor Luis Alberto Mauri is the person responsible for proposing the new Bill. He is trying to put the burden on Internet Service Providers (ISP’s) to block citizens access to gambling websites.
Mauri understands that the new Bill will not make him a popular person in the country. Many people enjoy spending their leisure time and money gambling online, but that has not deterred Mauri, however.
“We understand that gambling is a part of social behavior and increasingly popular online, but the fact that citizens in our province have access to this method of gambling does not mean that the State should refrain from exercising control over it,” said Mauri.
Two states have had Bills proposed in the past week. One was in Buenos Aires and the other in Santa Fe. The Bills are aimed at all forms of Internet gambling including; sports betting, poker, bingo, and full casino games.
The goal of the state is to push citizens towards gambling in legal arenas that are taxed by the government. This will ensure that the government gets a piece of the gambling money.
